Out-of-town visitor chased, stabbed in Portland’s Old Town neighborhood

An out-of-town guest staying at a hotel in the city’s Old Town-Chinatown was on a walk Monday afternoon when a stranger chased her down, threw her to the ground from behind and stabbed her in an unprovoked attack, witnesses told police.

The visitor lay bleeding in the middle of the street as officers arrested a 44-year-old woman near the scene at Northwest Couch Street and Third Avenue.
