Portland street plagued by illegal dumping
A Portland woman is asking the city to do something to clean up garbage on her street, left from a string of illegal dumping and a homeless camp.
Yesenia Segovia has lived on Southeast 89th Avenue since the spring of 2020. She said a homeless camp popped up right next to her property six months later. Since then, she said she’s seen the amount of garbage increase on her street not just from the camp, but from illegal dumping.
If you are not going to enforce littering and illegal dumping at homeless camps etc why should someone that pays taxes give a damn where they dump their junk? You have two sets of laws for different people. I would never illegally dump trash but I understand why some would do it. I’m sick of all of it. Portland used to be famous for how clean it was. Now look what our “leaders” have allowed to happen. You enabled bums. Not the homeless, they go to the options they are offered so they can rebuild their lives. No, you enable bums, people that have no desire or intention of changing. They don’t mind what they do, they are selfish. Sure they might appear to do kind things and be polite but that is so you give them a break. They will tell the gullible whatever they want to hear. It’s a tactic of junkies. They do things for you so that when you call them out on bad behaviour they can guilt trip you because they have done so many nice things for you. If you have a junkie in your family you know exactly what I’m talking about.
It is time for tough love, it is time to stop enabling, it is time to serve the hard working tax payer that have millions of THEIR tax dollars wasted enabling bums. Enough is enough.
I am usually compassionate, but I am worn down. It never ends.
So let’s get some results. How about this to speed up this process. How about our city counselors and mayor give up every single Saturday to spend 8 hours every Saturday to clean up the trash in our neighborhoods. I dont mean their areas, I want them to come out to SE,NE and N Portland to clean junk, trash, feces, needles, etc that are left in OUR neighborhoods. I think we should demand this, no getting out of it, no excuses. Every Saturday until this shit stops.
Let’s be clear. If you are not going to enforce laws on all citizens equally then you have no right to enforce them on anyone. That is discriminatory and that is illegal. And maybe, just maybe if you actually held bums accoubtable they would move on or they would be forced to get the help they need through court rulings. Enabling any further is no longer an option.
